Facebook and Narcissism

The definition of narcissism is overly self involved to an extent where you can be considered cocky. You’re in love with yourself to a point to where its vain. In my article the questions is, “Does Facebook turn people into Narcissist?” Some may say yes, and others will disagree. Its an arguable topic that can go either way.

Facebook is a way to keep in touch of family members or close friends. And posting statuses and photos to let people know how you are doing. Lots of time has been devoted to facebook by many researchers to get a clear answer to the question. They gathered that the people who seemed the most narcissistic had tendencies that were easily shown. They would spend countless hours ours on facebook. Liking and tagging themselves as well as others in photo’s that they put up. They would digitally enhance their photo’s, making themselves look better. People who also frequently update their status with pointless things that nobody, besides theirself, would like reading about things they are doing they no one cares about. That’s the traits they found to make people seem narcissistic.

And then there are the people who narcissistic before facebook. Maybe they gloat about how blessed with good looks they are, or how many boyfriends girlfriends they get before obtaining a facebook. People are just that ways sometimes and nobody has told them that they are.
Either if they are narcissist before or become narcissist after signing up to facebook being a narcissist is simply wrong. The researchers say that facebook doesn’t make you narcissist as much as the other social network, Twitter. Mainly because they can tweet directly at themselves boosting their own confidence.
